From the outside, it looks like all smart lighting systems lock you into one brand. The reality is that Zigbee-certified Legrand devices will pair with a Lutron Caseta hub or a SmartThings bridge. Final Word on Zigbee Testing and Protocol Choice
If you're deciding between LoRaWAN and Zigbee for a large commercial building, honestly think about data rate. LoRa is for long-range, low-bandwidth sensor data—temperature, humidity, on/off status. Zigbee handles lighting controls, actual user input, and firmware updates. They serve different purposes.
For Legrand's lighting controls, Zigbee is the right choice. It's tested, it's open, and per the Zigbee Alliance standards, devices from different manufacturers should interoperate smoothly.
